Elbert Earl Dixon, age 95, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 doing what he loved, working in his shop. Born on June 20, 1928, he was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Dixon was a devoted member of Love Memorial Baptist Church and the Disable American Veterans, Donald H. Kirkman Chapter 45 in Goldsboro. He was a well-known upholsterer and a retired Veteran of the U.S. Air Force with 22 years of service. Mr. Dixon earned an Associate Degree in Science from Mt. Olive College in 1983.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Wayne Memorial Park on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00 pm with Rev. Richard Toler officiating with military honors. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
Mr. Dixon is survived by the love of his life, Mattie Dixon, celebrating 75 years of marriage on November 24, 2023. He is also survived by his children, Hubert Dixon, and Cynthia Wheaton and her husband, Craig; four grandchildren, Michael Wheaton, Amanda Wheaton, David Dixon and Emily Young; and four great grandchildren; along with a his special friend, Brenda.
