Born March 23, 1947, Edward (Eddie) Earl Jenkins, 75, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Saturday, August 27, 2022. Eddie is now completely well, worshipping the Lord with the love of his life, Sylvia Jenkins, who preceded him.
Eddie was passionate first about his Lord, second about his family, and third about his country. As a US Army airborne paratrooper and combat infantryman he was awarded the Purple Heart and suffered throughout his lifetime from injuries sustained during his Vietnam service.
Eddie worked for the US Postal Service for thirty years where, during his years as a carrier was well-known for his friendly smile and cheery “hello.”
An active and long-time member of The Bridge Church, Eddie served on the Deacon Board as well as head usher and was always ready to help wherever needed.
Eddie played football and baseball in high school and became a licensed pilot. He was a Carolina Tarheels and Carolina Panthers fan and one of his favorite hobbies was spotlighting deer.
Eddie is survived by a daughter, Angela Jenkins Grady and husband Michael Lynn Grady, Sr.; five grandchildren, Michael Lynn Grady, Jr. and wife Samantha, Joshua Earl Grady, Kaitlyn Danielle Grady, Zachary Chase Grady, Benjamin Eric Grady; great-grandchildren Hayden Nicole Grady and Laney Alexis Grady; stepbrother Jimmy Anderson; sisters-in-law Susan P. Cornett (Danny) and Sharon P. Johnson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
