Edward Deleon Newell

Edward Deleon Newell, age 72, passed away on Thursday morning at his residence. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Simeon Baker Newell and the late Virginia Louise Wiggs Newell and brother of the late Lillie Holmes and David Newell. Edward was employed with J. Milo Pierce Farm Center where he drove a truck and helped supervise the farm center.

A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends on Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joy T. Newell; two sons, Bryan Newell and his wife, Sandra and Timmy Newell and his wife, Megan; two brothers, S.B. Newell and Randy Newell; three sisters, Eleanor Smith, Lois Hannum and Ann Olive; four grandchildren, Jessica Newell Strickland and husband, Ivey; Jaclyn Newell Crawford and husband, Jason; Hunter Newell and Ryder Newell; along with his very special canine friend, “Bella”
