Edna Lane Haire, age 87, passed away Wednesday at Genesis Healthcare. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late James W. Lane and Rosa Millard Lane and wife of the late Everette Haire. She was also preceded in death by her son, John David Duncan, her grandson, Billy E. Duncan and siblings, Frank Lane, Herman Lane, Howard Lane, Margaret Fortner, Jessie Craig, Liz Rutledge, Elaine Lane and Cora Lane.
Edna was a former member of Love Memorial Baptist Church and spent a large amount of her life dedicated to caring for her family, especially her siblings in their later years.
A service to celebrate Edna’s life will be held on Sunday at 3:30 pm by the graveside at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
She is survived by her daughters, Hazel Goff and Phyllis Crews; foster children, Ricky Wells and Christy Wells; her grandchildren, John David Duncan, III, Cynthia Woodard and Michael Adkins, Jr.; and numerous great grandchildren.
