Dorothy Blackwelder Lord

Dorothy Blackwelder Lord, 92, of Goldsboro passed away on Thursday evening. She was the daughter of the late Jason Elijah and Marybell Atwell Blackwelder and was the widow of Bobby Gene Lord. Mrs. Lord was retired LPN at Woodard’s Retirement Home and had worked for the News Argus delivering the paper. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and the ladies auxiliary, as well  as, the DAV auxiliary. Mrs. Lord was a loving and caring mother.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Lord is survived by her daughters, Brenda Sigmon of Goldsboro, Kimberly Melton of Mt. Olive, and Connie Lord of Dudley; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and her dog, We we.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be directed to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 604 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
