Don William Autrey, 70, of Dudley passed away Monday evening at Wayne UNC Hospital. He is the son of the late Floyd Lee and Bernice Martin Autrey, and was the husband of the late Deborah H. Autrey. Don was the owner and operator of Autrey’s Paint and Wallpaper. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran and had worked as a supervisor at the Mt. Olive Pickle Company. When he was able, Don was involved in the Wayne County Republican Party, the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, and the NC Pickle Festival.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Emmaus Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at the church Saturday.
Mr. Autrey is survived by his daughter, Desiree Autrey Houston and husband, Thomas of Dudley; brothers, Jack Autrey and wife, Rachel and Bobby Autrey and wife, Tammy all of Marion, NC; a sister, Patricia Crowder and husband, Joe of Marion, NC; brothers in law, Scottie Hines and wife, Terry of Dudley and Danny Hines and wife, Laura of Nahunta; a sister in law, Lorie Robertson and husband, William of Sanford; his adopted family, John Gerken, Donna Merritt, Amanda Sarvis, Michael Sarvis, Jerry Ward, Renee Farmer, Brittany Harper, and Tracy Atkins; many nieces and nephews; and his Dachshunds, Brownlee, Savannah, and Scarlet.
