Dartha Carol (Westbrook) Strickland

Dartha Carol Westbrook Strickland, age 83, passed away Tuesday evening, April 15, 2025 at Wayne/UNC Health Care. Born in Wayne County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Cleo and Dartha Keel Westbrook. Carol was the wife of the late Joe Dan Strickland. She graduated from Grantham High School and was retired from the Wayne County School System as an accountant. She was a member of Eureka Christian Church and the “Lunch Bunch”. Carol was a long time caregiver for her husband, Joe Dan, along with many others in the community. She had very loving heart, putting others needs before herself as she was a Christian Lady.

Funeral Services will be Monday, April 21, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Eureka Christian Church with Rev. Frank Purvis and Pastor Todd Massey officiating. The family will have a time of visitation immediately following the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of her sister, Gail Westbrook, 155 Paul Hare Road, Goldsboro, NC. A committal service will held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Wayne Memorial Park.

Carol is survived by her son, Jeff Strickland; grandchildren, Hannah Hollingsworth (Jacob) and Nora Pennington (Matt); great grandchildren, Lucas Hollingsworth, Charlotte Hollingsworth and Peyton Pennington; brother, Ray Westbrook (Peggy); sisters, Gail Westbrook, Janice Best (R.A.), and Elaine Zullo.  Carol is also survived numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and extended family members and dear friends.  All whom she loved dearly.
