Danny Euland Jones

Danny Euland Jones, age 65, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of Merline M. Jones and the late Robert Lee Jones. Danny was a Veteran of the Army National Guard where he served as a medic with eleven months in Iraq. He was a loving son and father. He was a retired firefighter with the Calypso Fire Department and enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and NASCAR.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at 10:00am at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at Danny’s home.

In addition to his mother, Danny is survived by his daughters, Melissa Kirkland, Cindy Barber and Danielle Howard; his former wife and mother of his children, Gail Jones; a brother, Larry Jones; sisters, Patricia Jones and Brenda Thompson; six grandchildren, Johnathan Barber, Timothy Barber, Joshua Kirkland, Brittney Kirkland, Dixie Howard and Lilly Howard; and his special dog, Peewee.
