Clara Savage Turnage, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 26th at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born in Lenoir County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Jay Savage and Julia Elizabeth Gray Savage and wife of the late Roger Turnage. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Preston Savage. Clara was the owner of Prince Tire Company and a longtime member of the Rosewood Worship Center, formerly the Oak Heights PFWB Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
A service to celebrate Clara’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 11:00 am at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Savage and Pastor David Fields officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 at the funeral home.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Grey Turnage Weaver and her husband, Ralph Weaver, Jr.; a brother, Roy Savage and his wife, Montier; two granddaughters, Linda Weaver and her fiancée, Chris Dean; Christy Gilbert and her husband, Nick Gilbert; two great grandchildren, Riley Gilbert and Hadley Gilbert; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
