Christine "Chris" Susanne Mervin

Christine “Chris” S. Mervin, age 58, passed away Thursday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.  Born in Carson City, NV, she was the daughter of the late Edith Schaal. Known as “Grammy” to her grandchildren, her family was most important in her life, especially her grandsons. Chris loved animals…particularly horses….as well as nature, hunting and camping. She also had a love for American Indian Culture. The simple things made her happiest.  She could take a plant and make it special. Chris had a very giving heart to those in need even when she did not have it to give.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Bobbi and Blake Stevens; Grandchildren, Landon and Jase Stevens; Brother, Frank Kountz; Uncle & Aunt, Bob and Jeanie Kountz; her special dog, “Babie”; special friend, Jerry Maynard; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ellie Mauriello.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20077-7127 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.  These organizations were very important to Chris.
