Brenda Carol (Heath) Jernigan

Brenda Carol Heath Jernigan, 76, passed away peacefully Saturday surrounded by her family and friends at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Effie Barfield Heath and was the wife of the late Charlie Jernigan. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pikeville. Mrs. Jernigan enjoyed going to McDonald’s to talk with friends, cooking for her family, going to yard sales, anything to do with crosses or angels, and being with her family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.  A service of love and remembrance will be held on Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jernigan is survived by her daughters, Elaine Jernigan and husband, Michael Hamilton of Pikeville and Sandra Comer and husband, Junior of Dudley; brothers, Danny Heath and wife, Becky of Princeton and Edward Heath of Grantham; half sisters, Betty Lou of Florida and Hazel of Deep Run; best friend, Linda Jackson of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Freddie Ponce, Charlie Comer and wife, Sara, Michael Ponce, Sandy Ezzell and husband, Matt; and great grandchildren, Preston Comer, Rosalie Ponce, Olivia Ponce, Ryleigh Ezzell, Paisley Comer, and Daniel Ezzell.

A sister, Mary Helen Williford, a brother, Ronnie Heath, and a half-brother, Pee Wee Heath preceded her in death.
