Betty Jean Honeycutt Overby, age 89, passed away Wednesday in Moore County. Born in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late R. L. Honeycutt and Leola Brooks Honeycutt and wife of the late Harold A. Overby. They were married for 68 years prior to Harry’s death. She was longtime member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Betty was very organized and kept a spotless home. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for family and friends, along with cross stitch and needlepoint. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
A graveside service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held Monday at 4:30pm at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. The family will remain at the grave to visit with friends.
Mrs. Overby is survived by a daughter, Donna Overby McLaurin and husband, Gene; a son Harold A. Overby, Jr.; five grandchildren, Catherine White and her husband, Brent, Anna McLaurin, Mac McLaurin and wife, Jennifer, David Overby, Trey McClenny; five great grandchildren and a brother, Melvin Honeycutt.
