Betsy Katherine (Sutton) Spurgeon

Betsy Katherine Sutton Spurgeon, age 79, died Tuesday at her home.  Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Annette Martin Sutton.  She was retired as Registered Nurse with Cherry Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 25, at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating.  Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will visit family and friends at the graveside.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dale E. Spurgeon; daughter & son-in-law, Suzanne and Chris Vernon; son & daughter-in-law, Jay and Patricia Spurgeon;  two brothers and their spouses, Tommy Sutton  (Jerry) and Martin Sutton (Ron); six grandchildren, Zachary and Carleigh Parker, Benjamin, Nicholas, Katherine Spurgeon and Christopher Brown; brother-in-law, Billy Spurgeon; sister-in-law, Patty Gay (Milford) Turner; her special pets, “Cooper” and “Lizzie”.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charles Allen Spurgeon and her sister-in-law, Juanita Turner.
