Barbara "BJ" Jean (Rock) Howery

Barbara Jean “BJ” Rock Howery, age 79, passed away Thursday at Wayne/UNC Healthcare. Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Rock and Martha Metz Rock. She was retired from the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron/CEC on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

BJ is survived by her sons, Darren Howery (Cindy) and Darryl Howery; sisters, Patty Ingram and Sandy Meshekey; daughter-in-law, Kim Howery; grandchildren, Brooke Gwynn (Kyle), Meghan Kornegay (Blake), Emily Massengill (Jason), Darren “D.J.” Howery, Jr., Darryl Howery, Jr. (Brianna), Kristin Howery Spence (James), Leah Hauk, Todd Schuler (Lena) and Duane Owen Howery; grandson-in-law, David Keene; 23 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Duane Howery;  granddaughter, Heather Keene; brothers, Michael Rock and Danny Rock.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
