Barbara (Minshew) Hoover

Barbara “Foxy” Minshew Hoover, age 63, passed away Saturday morning at Lenior UNC Health Care. Born in Wayne County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lucille Sullivan Minshew. For many years, she was a private duty nurse. Barbara loved Craig Woolard of the Embers and enjoyed listening to beach music.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Hoover officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home.

Barbara is survived by her son, Thomas Craig Hoover; her daughter, Christy Nicole Grady; close friend, Chris Stauhl;  her brothers, Clay Minshew and Hubert “Junebug” Minshew; her sisters, Pauline Strickland and Eula Faucette; her grandchildren, To’Mias Purvis and Jaida Hoover. Affectionately known as “B-Nana”, she loved and cared for many bonus grandbabies over the years.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Danny Minshew, Walter Minshew, Gene Sullivan, Dolly Ellis and Stella Minshew.
