Audrey (Jackson) Thornton

Ellaine Audrey Jackson Thornton, age 80, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday.  Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Dorcas King Jackson and the wife of the late Carol Thornton.  A member of Kenly Pentecostal Holiness Church, she was the owner and operator of the Piggly Wiggly in Kenly, NC.  

A Graveside service will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Lamar Jackson officiating.  A time of visitation will be held immediately following the service at the cemetery. 

Mrs. Thornton is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Thornton Tumbaga, Pamela Thornton Strickland; brothers, Larry Dail Jackson & wife, Brenda; sister, Sallie Jackson Whitfield; sister-in-law, Jean Jackson;  three grandchildren, Bryan Jomp, Sara Strickland and Nathan Strickland. 

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Carol Thornton Jomp & husband, Kirk; brother, Carroll Jackson; sister, Doris Jackson Holloman and  husband Mack Holloman;  brother-in-law, Douglas Whitfield; granddaughter, Caroline Jomp.
