Amy Exum (Herring) Daughtry

Amy Herring Daughtry passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Greendale forest Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Snow Hill, NC, surrounded by her family. She was born in Goldsboro, NC on February 28, 1922 to Louis Benjamin and Estelle Exum Herring. She was the fourth of seven siblings.

Amy is survived by three sons, Harry Daughtry & wife, Mary Jane Bandy Daughtry, Herman Daughtry & wife, Icelene Alligood Daughtry, Robert (Bobby) Daughtry, Sr. & wife, Diana Wiggins Daughtry; her daughter-in-law, Laura Tapscott Daughtry.

She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Paula Daughtry, Paige Alligood Davis (Bill); Glenda Daughtry Phillips (Michael); Robert (Robbie) Daughtry, Jr.; Anthony Daughtry (Toni Dawn) and David Daughtry (Elizabeth) and six great grandchildren. As well as, survived by many nieces & nephews and a special cousin, Irene Herring Daughety.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Whitfield Daughtry:her son, Steven Roy Daughtry; her sister, Sara Herring Gwaltney; brothers, Leslie Jack Herring, James Bruce Herring, Kenneth Maxwell Herring (Tom), Benjamin Earl Herring and Wesley Paul Herring.

A Service to Celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m.Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Daniels Chapel Church, 2802 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534 with Rev. Andy Rose officiating.  A time of visitation will be held immediately following the service at the church.  A private burial will be held in Wayne Memorial Park.
