Alvin Rufus Bobinger, Sr., age 78, died Sunday at Wayne/UNC Healthcare. Born in Long Beach, MS, he was the son of the late Joe Ruby and Mary Inez McKay Bobinger. He was veteran of the United States Navy.

No formal services will be held at this time.

He is survived by his daughters, Raelyn Bobinger, Shannon Lamar White (William Wayne, II), Jessica Jefferys, Amanda Jefferys, Laura Jefferys and Shawn Green; his companion, Pamela Jefferys; eighteen grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alvin Rufus Bobinger, Jr.; brothers, Joe Bobinger, Elvin Bobinger and Jimmy Bobinger; sisters, Mary Bond and Betty Sharp.
