Alexis Williams Obituary

Alexis Rae came into this world on a stormy day in May: with thunder, lightning and flickering lights. However, she left us in the quiet of the night, peacefully departing this life without warning.

Since the beginning of time, people have questioned why bad things happen to good people. We will never know that answer.

Alexis had endured so much throughout her life, including tragically losing her mother; something she and our family never truly recovered from. When Hazel was born, she readjusted her entire life, putting her entire focus on making sure she was provided for and well taken care of.

Alexis was a 2021 Graduate of Southern Wayne High School.

She worked long days at RHA Howell in La Grange to get her own place and pay her own bills, to prove her independence and ability to provide for her daughter, the true love of her life. She had a soft spot for her clients, and to her they were “her babies”.

Alexis was the baby of the family, and we all spoiled and protected her until her last day. She loved her family, and we will forever miss the early morning and late-night facetime calls and text messages. She loved sharing every moment and milestone with us. She called almost every day to find out if “dad was cooking dinner tonight” or to show us what Hazel learned today.

There are no words to describe just how proud we were of her, or the pain we feel with her loss. Alexis was a private person, and her circle was small yet loyal.

She is survived by her daughter Hazel Mae, Father Billy Williams, and wife Hannah, her sisters, Dacie Williams Hartley and Husband Chandler of Goldsboro, NC Christine Williams Carter of Turkey, NC. and Julie Deaver of Goldsboro, nieces Gina and Courtney, and nephews Trenton, Carson, and Tatum. her Grandfather Frank Warner of Newport, NC, Aunt Patricia Warner Haynes and Husband Richard of Newport, NC, Aunt Lois Warner of Virginia, and Aunt Dr. Karin Warner of Pennsylvania, Aunt Shelby Lash and husband Stan of Florida, Aunt Nannette Rota and Husband Daniel of South Carolina, Uncle Lynwood Strickland, along with more than 20 cousins, her Godparents Michael and Lori Biggins and special Friends Abigail Wise, Melissa Hart, Angel Faison, Margarita Balleza Reyes, and her “Boyfriend” Michael Edwards that she loved every day since he was born 10 years ago.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Gina Warner Williams, Her Grandmother Christine Hare Grady, Grandmother Doris Buck Warner, and her uncles Michael and Richard Warner.

We will be having a memorial service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home to celebrate Alexis’s life on Saturday, March 30th, from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm. There will be a short sermon performed in the chapel by pastor Tommy Colie, and then we will receive visitors in the visiting room. In observance of Alexis’ wishes, we ask that during the memorial service everyone comes as they are. She hated dressing up, and her signature outfit was leggings, extra long t-shirts and crocs. If you knew her you already know.
