Alesia Henderson Barwick, age 64, passed away on Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Mt. Olive, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Mary Ruth Henderson Harrell and the late Gurman Franklin Henderson.
Along with her mother, she is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Barwick; her children, Michael Platt and wife Bailey, Brandon Platt and wife Nicole, and Shayna Dean and husband Conner; her brothers, Frank Henderson and Loren Henderson; her sister, Cherry Hill and husband Gary; her grandchildren, Evan, Maddox, Mason, Miley, and Rylan; and her special canine companion Bentley.
Along with her father, Alesia was preceded in death by her brother, Eric Shayne Henderson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Sykes officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Flowers are welcome, and yellow flowers are especially appreciated, as yellow was Alesia’s favorite color. Memorial contributions may be directed to the funeral home to assist with purchasing a grave marker.
