Joe Dan Sutton, Sr.

Joe Dan Sutton, Sr., age 81, passed away Monday at his residence. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Raymond Sutton and Bertha Mae  Best Sutton. He was preceded in death by brothers, Luby, Glenn, Buck and Leburn Sutton and sisters, Thelma West, Carmel Jones, Elena Hudson and Willie Mae Moore.

A service to celebrate Mr. Sutton’s life will be held Friday at 3:00 pm in the Shumate Memorial Chapel with Rev. Donald Massey and Rev. Tony Ward officiating. Family members will greet friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home immediately following the service.

He is survived by wife, Lela Sutton; a son and daughter in law, Joe (Cindy) Sutton, Jr.; brother, Don (Willa Rae) Sutton; sisters, Bertha Gail (James) McGill, Belinda (Jimmy) Bell; two sisters in law, Freida Sutton and Sudie Sutton; two grandchildren, Taylor Sutton and Farley Sutton.
