Ernestine (Whitman) Best

Ernestine Whitman Best, 74, passed away Saturday at Vidant Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Jim J. and Penny W. Whitman, and was married to the late James W. Best. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir.  

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Emmaus Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Ernestine is survived by her son, David Best; a brother, Jessie Whitman and wife, Heather of New Bern; sisters, Virginia D. Creech of Mt. Olive, Penie Ann Smith of Goldsboro, and Mary Louise Holmes of Shallotte; and 2 grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ernestine was preceded in death by her twins, brothers, Hubert Ray Whitman and James M. Whitman; and a sister, Willie Myrtle Williams.
