Doris J. Humphreys

Doris Jinnette Humphreys, age 95, passed away on Monday at Wayne UNC Healthcare with her loving family by her side. Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. Jinnette, Sr. and Esther W. Ball Jinnette and wife of the late Harold Wesley Humphreys. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Edna Price and a brother, Carl Jinnette. Doris was the oldest active member of Providence United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Wesley Covenant Sunday School Class and Providence Friends United. She graduated from Calypso High School, attended Pfeiffer College and Rice Business College.

A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. Gina Barrow officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Susan Humphreys, Debbie & Rudy Peedin, Patricia and Richard Rohrer, Nancy Westfall; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
