Bruce Willis Mitchell

Bruce Willis Mitchell, 77, of Dudley passed away Thursday evening at his residence surrounded by his family. He is the son of the late Minnie Jane Anderson Mitchell and AJ Mitchell Sr. Bruce was married to the love of his life, Shelby S. Mitchell for 52 years. A member of Emmaus Baptist Church for 50 years, Bruce served as a Deacon, a member of the buildings and grounds committee, a choir member, an usher, as well as a Sunday school member. After retiring from R. G. Barry, he started his own business, Bruce’s Green Houses, where he was known for his ferns and any plants with red in them. He chose to retire from the greenhouses to spend as much time as possible with his three grandchildren, the next great love of his life.  Mr. Bruce was a faithful Christian, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

A funeral service will be held Sunday at Emmaus Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at the Anderson family cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M.

In addition to his wife, Bruce is survived by his daughters, Michelle Mitchell and husband, Shawn and Deana Johnson and husband, Tim all of Dudley; a brother, Zeb Mitchell of Dudley; sisters, Annette Carter and Loraine Carter both of Mt. Olive; sisters in law, Alice Mitchell and Martha Mitchell; granddaughters, Emma Mitchell, Lauren Mitchell, and Minnie Johnson.

Two brothers, AJ Mitchell Jr. and Jimmy Mitchell and three sisters, Elizabeth Anderson, Emma Jean Mitchell, and Edna Mae Mitchell preceded him in death.
