Bobby Benton Sasser, age 79, died Monday at Wayne UNC Healthcare. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late George C. “Buck” Sasser and the late Henrietta Edmundson Sasser. Bobby was a member of Antioch Original Free Will Baptist Church and attended United In Christ Church. He was an auctioneer and a graduate of East Carolina University where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity.
A service to celebrate Bobby’s life will be held Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the United In Christ Church with Pastor Ira Williford and Pastor Billy Rose officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church and at other times at the home of his daughter, Judy Gooding, 1919 Antioch Road NE, Pikeville, NC 27863.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Billie Faye Sasser; daughters and sons in law, Rhonda S. and Mike Butler, Judy S. and Keith Gooding; a son, Sam Sasser and his fiancée, Meghann Walker; two brothers and sisters in law, George and Sybil Sasser, Henry and Jeanne Sasser; a sister and brother in law, Joy and Freddie Harding; three grandchildren, Buck Butler, Sean Butler and Jon Luke Gooding.
